• 德雷克大學(Drake University)藝術碩士,主修繪畫。現居住、創作、教授於美國佛羅里達州,以 Silverpoint 銀針筆創作大型裝置著稱。經由銀針筆的精密與洗煉灰階獨樹一格的創作方式,探討宇宙生命的起源。作品曾受邀參與備受國際尊崇的美國藝術暨文學學會 (American Academy of Arts and Letters) 邀請展,創作並收錄於多本銀針筆歷史書冊,歐美展出經歷豐富。獲全美十數間美術館永久收藏,包括紐約美術與設計博物館(Museum of Arts and Design)、邁阿密佩雷斯美術館(Perez Museum of Art)、斯賓塞美術館、與科勒藝術中心…等等,Carol Prusa 於2017年獲得了SECAC藝術成就獎,並在2019年於美國佛羅里達博卡拉頓藝術博物館(Boca Raton Museum of Art)舉辦大型個展。

     

    銀針筆(Silverpoint)興盛於文藝復興時期,這個古老的技法自古以來就被藝術家、文牘或工匠使用,因它描繪細膩的特性而受達文西(Leonardo da Vinci)、拉斐爾(Raffaello Santi)等大師所喜愛。文藝復興時期琴尼尼(Cennino Cennini)所編著的繪畫技術論著《藝術之書》(Il Libro dell’Arte)中也提及,中世紀的畫室學徒必須精通銀針筆以後,才能著手學習油畫,也因無法修改的特性,可見此技法畫工之高超。受到文藝復興圓頂教堂繪畫的啟發,Carol Prusa 開始埋首銀針筆繪畫研究,以機械紋理低調洗練的灰階,展現自成一格的創作風格。早期以半弧形體,後逐漸展現360度球體功力,近期轉向平面畫作以及大型裝置,跳脫以往球體裝置,開創新平面風格,卻仍為觀者營造無限的視覺感。Carol Prusa 融合了她對宇宙、自然科學,以及浩瀚宇宙間神秘「未知」的著迷,將古老的銀針筆技法,結合雕刻樹脂、玻璃纖維、金屬箔甚至是LED燈等當代媒材,使我們得以去想像宇宙初始的渾沌、融合以及萬物間的神秘力量。

     

    「未知」雖然讓人卻步,卻也同時使人期待,Prusa的銀針筆繪畫詮釋宇宙演化的核心混沌相互作用,發掘其生命之美,而宇宙間無形的力量,也因此得以在我們眼前成為現實。如同藝術評論家Margherita Dessanay 所言:「Carol Prusa 使用藝術來研究『宇宙的無限奇蹟』」,也在她的藝術作品中為宇宙力量創造了新的視野。
