Artist Spotlight | Cao Jigang at Ningbo Museum of Art Now Open

Our Chinese artist Cao Jigang participates in an annual academic exhibition “Tribute to Cézanne: The Modernity of Chinese Painting” at the Ningbo Museum of Art, now open! Cao's four large tempera paintings and nine new watercolor, engaged in a dialogue with Paul Cézanne.

Cao Jigang(China, b.1955) graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1984. Currently resides and works in Beijing. His works are characterised by a unique semi-transparency, warm, porcelain-like texture reminiscent of jade, achieved through deliberate layering. Expressing the concept of "emptiness" through intentional application, Cao Jigang has recently transitioned towards a minimalist style, opening up a space for contemplation on the connection between heaven and humanity. He received the Silver Award at the 9th National Art Exhibition of China in 1999. Exhibited at the China National Art Museum, Villa Rot Museum, Germany and more..,permanently collected by the China National Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum..etc.
