Excerpt from the opening remarks by Curator Sabine :
In the Kunsthalle and Hoenes Hall, we are delighted to showcase two artists represented by Bluerider ART Gallery from Taiwan: one American and one Chinese. We warmly welcome the gallery’s founder, Ms. Elsa Wang, and extend our congratulations on the outstanding selection of works by Cao Jigang and Carol Prusa for this exhibition.

American artist Carol Prusa (b. 1956) explores the universe through both scientific inquiry and artistic expression. Part of her inspiration comes from the “Friedmann equations”—a set of fundamental formulas in modern cosmology used to describe the dynamics of the universe and model various cosmological scenarios. Carol’s work is rooted in the Renaissance technique of silverpoint, valued for its precision and delicacy. She employs this method to render intricate geometric structures, often expanding across spherical or circular forms that envelop the entire surface. These compositions convey a fascination with order, symmetry, and minute detail. Several of her works incorporate internal light sources, allowing the forms to emit a subtle, luminous presence—suggesting a fragile yet complex existence held together by an underlying order amidst chaos. Through this, Carol evokes a visual metaphor for the universe itself: An order maintained within chaos, reflecting the structure of our own universe.

Cao Jigang(China, b. 1955) is a Beijing-based painter whose works are being exhibited for the first time at Museum Villa Rot in Germany. The Kunsthalle offers an expansive setting for his large-scale tempera paintings. Cao’s artistic style seamlessly fuses the structural solidity of Western painting with the flowing spontaneity of traditional Chinese ink art. He employs the time-honored egg tempera technique—a method dating back centuries—which enables the creation of unique, translucent layers of color. His works exhibit a warm porcelain-like texture and a luminous quality akin to jade, merging European and Asian artistic traditions in a distinctive visual language. Using subtle gradations of white and gray, he builds depth and atmosphere with restrained elegance. This minimalist palette and visual vocabulary instill a sense of profound stillness, drawing viewers into a contemplative space of quiet reflection. The philosophical foundation of Cao Jigang’s art is rooted in Daoism, particularly in the principle of the “unity between Heaven and humanity.” His works are often described as ethereal, poetic, and imbued with a timeless, meditative spirit. Some of his pieces feature internal illumination, rendering the spherical forms with a sense of complexity and fragility—an order delicately sustained amidst chaos, mirroring the very world we live in.

Elsa Wang, founder of Bluerider ART, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and address a thank you talk:
"What a beautiful Sunday, and sorry my German is lousy. I did prepare a little short talk, but after I arrived here and I saw these amazing exhibitions, I am too emotional, and my tears are running in my eyes, my goosebumps rising up, so I really forgot what I'm going to say.

Thinking about the two artists, for over 40 years, one in America, focus very much on her silver point, and the other artist, focus on his tempera in a rural studio near Beijing city, their 40 years of devotion to art, and those beautiful work were shown here in this historical, the most beautiful museum and the beautiful audience here, I was really emotional. Yes, I'm Elsa Wang, 12 years ago, I founded a contemporary art gallery in Taipei, named by Kandinsky's 'Der Blaue Reiter', Bluerider ART now has four galleries in Taipei, Shanghai, and London, and Los Angeles. To see their works shown here, gives me the feel of how powerful of art can be, to connect the world as one!

t's a great honor to be here, where Der Blaue Reiter was born. I would like to thank Curator Sabine, Willi, Stephanie, and Anette, and all the supporting teams to have this international project come true, and of course, thank you all!
