“The true paradises are the paradises we have lost.” — Marcel Proust (French writer 1871–1922 Le Temps retrouvé)

Graduated from Geneva University of Art and Design (Haute École d'Art et de Design), Feuz currently lives and works in Geneva. In his artistic realm, art, science, and philosophy converge as he explores the universal meaning of "existence" and presents unseen realms through his unique painting techniques. Thierry Feuz's works have been collected by significant institutions and museums, including Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Neuchâtel, Singapore Art Foundation, UBS Bank, Saks Fifth Avenue in the United States, as well as the Breeze Crop. and E.Sun Commercial Bank, among other corporate collections.

When we gaze upon the canvases of Thierry Feuz, we see more than a symphony of colors—we encounter a poetic journey through memory, nature, and time. The Swiss artist traces the origins of his creativity back to childhood days with his grandfather, learning the language of the earth: the textures of soil, the tracks of animals, the direction and scent of the wind. They would lie on the hillside, looking up at the sky, watching life stir with every breeze. These moments—simple yet luminous—remain like a melody preserved in time. For Feuz, this is the essence of pure romance: fleeting yet eternal, ephemeral yet unforgettable.

This gaze into memory resonates with Proust’s philosophy in In Search of Lost Time. Through the taste of a madeleine, Proust awakened forgotten childhood scenes, opening a fissure in time where past and present coexisted. Time, then, is no longer linear but crystalline, layered with refracted light. Feuz’s paintings embody such crystallization—transforming fragments of time into floating color, rendering the canvas a flowing field of memory.

A technical explorer, Feuz creates compositions that move like wind, growing like rivers. His drifting forms and halos evoke whispers of leaves, the rhythms of meadows. Each brushstroke is an act of remembrance, guiding us back toward a lost paradise. As Swiss curator and art critic Oliver Orest Tschirky notes: “Thierry Feuz’s style reflects a postmodern philosophical consciousness, synthesizing elements of classical, medieval, baroque, impressionism, surrealism, and abstract expressionism.”

Proust once wrote in Time Regained: “Les vrais paradis sont les paradis qu’on a perdus.” (“The true paradises are the paradises we have lost.”) This is both an elegy to loss and the spiritual compass of Feuz’s art. His works seem to gather fallen fragments of paradise: the shimmer of dust in the wind, the vast sky from a hillside gaze, the brief beauty of a mayfly’s flight. In his hands, these fragments bloom again, visually reconstructing a timeless realm of romance. Like the Romantic vision itself, what stirs us most is the tremor where nature and emotion entwine, the longing for what lies beyond our reach.

To step into this exhibition is to enter a poetic space woven of memory, nature, and dream. Light and shadow drift; colors seem to breathe. The breeze still stirs; time halts upon a hillside. And among the canvases, we search for the paradise we have lost. This is Romance Fallen from Heaven: a remembrance beyond time, a poetic meditation on nature and memory, a contemporary resonance of Romanticism’s spirit.
