卡蘿‧普魯莎 Carol Prusa (美國, b.1956)畢業於美國德雷克大學(Drake University)藝術碩士,主修繪畫,現居住與創作於美國北卡羅來納州。 普魯莎傳承文藝復興時期的銀針筆繪畫技法,鑽研天文物理學,詮釋宇宙演化的混沌相互作用,經由銀針筆的精密與洗煉灰階,以大規模銀線描繪,獨樹一格地融入雕塑形式,表達宇宙奇異之美創作聞名。 獲得SECAC藝術成就獎。 作品受邀備受國際尊崇的美國藝術與文學學會(American Academy of Arts and Letters)邀請展,創作收錄於多本銀針筆歷史書冊,並獲全美十數間美術館永久收藏,包括邁阿密佩雷斯美術館(Perez Museum of Art, Miami),紐約美術與設計博物館(Museum of Arts and Design, New York),特爾費爾藝術博物館(Telfair Museums)、弗朗西·古德和大衛·霍爾維茨收藏,以及藝術與科學博物館(Museum of Arts and Sciences)等,並於多個包括博卡拉頓藝術博物館(Boca Raton Museum of Art),西棕櫚灘博物館等舉辦大型個展。

銀針筆(Silverpoint)興盛於文藝復興時期,這個古老的技法因描繪細膩的特性而受達文西(Leonardo da Vinci)、拉斐爾(Raffaello Santi)等大師所喜愛。 文藝復興時期切尼諾・切尼尼(Cennino Cennini)所編著的繪畫技術論著《藝術之書》(Il Libro dell’Arte)中也提及,中世紀的畫室學徒必須精通銀針筆以後,才能著手學習油畫,可見此技法之高超。 受文藝復興圓頂教堂繪畫的啟發,普魯莎Prusa 開始埋首銀針筆繪畫研究,融合了對天文、自然科學,以及宇宙間神秘未知的著迷,普魯莎Prusa將古老的銀針筆技法,結合雕刻樹脂、玻璃纖維、金屬箔甚至是LED燈光等當代媒介,使我們得以想像宇宙初始的混沌,根據創作複雜程度與規模,一件作品可能需耗費數千小時才得以完成。早期以半弧形體,後逐漸展現360度球體功力,近期轉向平面畫作創新。無盡的想像其實皆經精密計算及佈局,每件作品象徵已知與未知的交觸面,平衡與反复的圖形陳述宇宙運轉的邏輯。 美國藝評家Margherita Dessanay評論,「卡蘿・普魯莎Carol Prusa 使用藝術來研究宇宙的無限奇蹟,也在她的當代作品為宇宙能量創造了新視野。」「未知」雖然讓人卻步,卻也同時使人期待,普魯莎Prusa的銀針筆繪畫詮釋宇宙演化核心的混沌相互作用,宇宙間無形的力量,也得以呈現在我們眼前。
2024年藍騎士藝術Bluerider ART上海·外灘重磅新展「卡蘿‧普魯莎:奇異吸引子」(Carol Prusa:Strange Attractors)-中國首個展,呈現多達15件從半球體到平面全新創作 。 挑高展廳中一幅長達九公尺捲軸畫《奇異吸引子》提到一個人體的脈輪,或是流向所有外在的能量線。在捲軸的另一面,藝術家作詩談論活著的感覺,以及宇宙的弗里德曼方程式,來傳達宇宙演化中的混沌交互,人類存在的敬畏,她尋求給薄薄的空間以形式,喚起黑暗物質既包圍又連結在一起,生活於這奇異之美中的歡愉感。 另一組《未知》是一系列四幅作品,描述了第一次引發我們存在可能性的奇異點《破裂世界》,到原子和分子的出現,這是對所有可能性的挑戰,結果導致了生命 《粒子沒有目的》,以及我們所在的本地星系和銀河系的開放《繁衍濃縮管》在局部星系中的位置,第四幅《概率的解聚》是未來,暗示著擴張後,我們可能會反彈並在另一次大爆炸中回彈,或者不會…。 普魯莎Prusa將這些優雅的科學方程式與自己的寫作繪畫結合,這項創作是對藝術家核心理念 「萬物理論」的貢獻。 另最新手工一本手風琴形式折疊於絲綢精裝內的藝術書《奇異吸引子》,拉開為長達2米的捲軸,當懸掛於牆面上時,優美如詩般的藝術圖騰為觀眾建立了一座進入她世界的橋樑,向世人展示在爭議的宇宙觀念中,在呼吸和作畫時所感受到的與所有人的美麗和相互聯繫,正如瑪麗·奧利弗Mary Oliver在《上游》(Upstream)中美麗地寫道,「藝術的關注點在邊緣,以及如何將邊緣之外的無形,轉化為有形形式。」(Its (arts) concern is the edge, and the making of a form out of the formlessness that is beyond the edge.)
