Marck has always felt disheartened by the predominance of white individuals within the art system, from the demographics of art fair attendees to the portrayal of people in artworks. In response, he created this powerful piece portraying a Black girl in flames, symbolising his determination to challenge and disrupt these entrenched norms within the art world - perhaps it‘s more fitting to say, “to metaphorically burn them down”, considering the piece involves actual fire!
