Bluerider ART London | Artist News Angela Glajcar

Congratulations to our German artist Angela Glajcar having her new sculpture《Terforation》 at Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, demonstrating the boundless potential of paper as an architectural sculptural material.

This work, specially installed in the museum’s circular tower-shaped space, “Laterne,” was a three-day residency for the artist, who constructed a floating paper architecture by stacking and suspending layers of hand-torn industrial paper. Responding to the tower’s natural light, the layers of paper play with subtle gradations of color, from warm brown to greenish-gray, creating a sense of immersion in an ethereal cavern and engaging the viewer in a profound dialogue with the space.

The 《Terforation》series, derived from the Latin words Terra (for land) and Foramen (for hole), symbolizes an exploration of the boundaries of matter and spatial structure. Through minimalist and precise techniques of tearing and arranging paper, Glajcar elevates it beyond its flat surface, transforming it into a site where light, air, and architectural language intertwine. This artwork is more than just a sculptural practice; it redefines architectural structure and viewing experience, showcasing the artist’s ongoing innovative language between materiality and spatial perception. Resonates with architecture, Glajcar invites viewers to step into a poetic space constructed of paper, where, amidst the interplay of stillness and light and shadow, they rediscover the liminal state between matter and perception.
