Bluerider ART London | Hantoo Art Group London Opening- Part 3

On the evening of October 16, 2025, at the opening reception of Rising in Fire: Hantoo Art Group in London, several renowned British artists, including Nick Veasey and Hogan Brown, attended to offer their congratulations. The Hantoo artists engaged in lively exchanges with the London audience, transcending linguistic and cultural boundaries. Many British visitors showed deep interest in the Hantoo works, asking thoughtful questions, and exploring the historical memories and cultural ideas behind the creations.

Ambassador Vincent C.H. Yao’s Opening Remarks:

"You know, I hate to be the last one to speak — particularly after two very eloquent speakers. I’ve got nothing left to say!

But anyway — Lord Faulkner, Elsa, and distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen — good evening.

First of all, let me extend the warmest welcome to the artists of the Hantoo Art Group. Thank you very much for your presence here in London.

It is a great honor and privilege for me to be here with you at this opening of this remarkable exhibition.
This exhibition marks a very important landmark, as it is the first of this kind in Hantoo Art Group’s twenty-seven-year history.

It also marks a very important event, because this is the first time that we have such a large scale presentation of Taiwanese artist collective in london's most prestigious district for art galleries. In addition to the artworks you’re seeing this evening, there are also some pieces of artworks that are being presented in our Office.

I appreciate very much for Elsa Wang and Bluerider art gallery that brought Hantoo Art Group and the artworks to London, so we have an opportunity to be part of these joint efforts to promote Taiwanese culture and art in the United Kingdom。

Finally, I want to emphasize that the Hantoo Art Group is really a very unique group. They represent a very special generation in Taiwan, which also my generation. But they look very young….but even though I look older than these artists, we are actually in the same generation.

This generation witnessed the lifting of martial law, and the starting of the democratization process in Taiwan, and the acceleration of economic boom in Taiwan. They actually represent some sort of a philosophical thinking and the resilience of our generation, which is now the mainstay of Taiwan’s political institutions and economic strength."
