Carol Prusa
American, b. 1956

德雷克大學(Drake University)藝術碩士,主修繪畫。現居住、創作、教授於美國佛羅里達州,以 Silverpoint 銀針筆創作大型裝置著稱。經由銀針筆的精密與洗煉灰階獨樹一格的創作方式,探討宇宙生命的起源。作品曾受邀參與備受國際尊崇的美國藝術暨文學學會 (American Academy of Arts and Letters) 邀請展,創作並收錄於多本銀針筆歷史書冊,歐美展出經歷豐富。獲全美十數間美術館永久收藏,包括紐約美術與設計博物館(Museum of Arts and Design)、邁阿密佩雷斯美術館(Perez Museum of Art)、斯賓塞美術館、與科勒藝術中心…等等,Carol Prusa 於2017年獲得了SECAC藝術成就獎,並在2019年於美國佛羅里達博卡拉頓藝術博物館(Boca Raton Museum of Art)舉辦大型個展。

The 11th Annual Manifest Prizewinner: Carol Prusa以作品Many Moons榮獲非營利組織Annual Manifest Prize首獎。Manifest Prize由20位加拿大及美國的藝術專業人士組成評選小組,經多輪篩選評論後,選出年度首獎。

自2014年起於Bluerider ART舉辦個展,至2020為第五度個展。受到文藝復興圓頂教堂繪畫的啟發,Carol Prusa 開始埋首銀針筆繪畫研究,以機械紋理低調洗練的灰階,展現自成一格的創作風格。早期以半弧形體,後逐漸展現360度球體功力,近期轉向平面畫作以及大型裝置,跳脫以往球體裝置,開創新平面風格,卻仍為觀者營造無限的視覺感。深受宇宙學、自然科學所啟發,為宇宙萬物間的「未知」所著迷,也融合她於90年代所研究的俄羅斯東正教與藏傳佛教的藝術傳統。美國知名攝影師Bruce Weber 曾於展覽刊物中稱許藝術家Carol Prusa 為「當今銀針筆界最具創新力的藝術家之一」,她將古老的銀針筆技法,結合雕刻樹脂、玻璃纖維、金屬箔甚至是LED燈等當代媒材,根據其複雜程度與規模,一件作品可能需耗費數千小時才得以完成。
